For excursions, DO NOT pay full price ever. Make sure to make reservations EVERY DAY as early as you can at any of the restaurants especially SPICEĤ. We did NOT book the preferred access as there were plenty of options to drink from and the service is still fabulous at the beach or pools.ģ. We had 4 Adults and 4 Boys (Ages 8-5) in two rooms.Ģ. We just came back from Punta Cana and stayed for about a week at the New Onyx Punta Cana. We had such a great holiday here, so much choice and the staff are truly amazing. There were plenty of sunbeds and shades available on the beach and at the Preferred Club pool. The Hotel was kept very clean along with the beach - there was no sign of any significant amount of Sargassum seaweed. The Prelude Bar was a great place to relax with a drink after a meal - the service was good too! We visited all the à la carte restaurants too, with the French and Spice being our favourites. We used the Preferred Club restaurant for breakfast quite a few times and found cooked breakfast was always hot. scrambled eggs and the bacon often ran out which took a while to replenish. The only issues we noticed were at breakfast, which does get very busy, where some dishes were allowed to go cold e.g. There are plenty of restaurants, with the buffet restaurant (Carnival) having such a wide variety of choice of hot and cold dishes. A few of the staff who stood out were Marlene (maid), Antonio V (Carnival), Miguel & Nelis (PC pool), Reymond, Batista & Juan (PC Restaurant), Flor, Miriam & Janser (Prelude Bar), David (Tamarindo), Alfonso (PC beach bar). They enjoy their work and engage with the guests to ensure satisfaction. The hotel resort is a large complex and therefore has a huge compliment of staff, who are all so friendly and helpful. We also received a ‘turn down’ service most evenings which included the mini bar being restocked. The room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed and a huge shower which didn’t vary in temperature if someone else was running water. Unfortunately shortly after, the air conditioning stopped working so we arranged for maintenance to come and fix the problem, which they did, only for the AC to stop working again, so we informed Nelson and it was soon fixed permanently. The next day he contacted us to say he’d arranged it and we moved to a top floor room which had a marvellous view. My wife was a little disappointed with the room, so Nelson said he would try to arrange a room change to the top floor. After checking-in we were shown to our room by our butler, Nelson Sosa who was so courteous and helpful. We had booked a Preferred Club ocean view room and had requested one on a top floor but realised this wasn’t guaranteed. My wife and I recently spent 16 days at Now Onyx and from the moment we arrived we felt we were treated like royalty.
